The Messer product line includes liquid helium, a variety of pure gases and standard mixes as well as separate gas mixtures produced to the customer's specification. Product requirements are as specific and varied as their applications. Messer offers a wide range of specialty gases, from cylinders to 300-bar cylinder bundles.
Liquid helium has a boiling point of approximately 4 Kelvin, the lowest of all gases. This makes it the coldest known liquid and therefore the optimal coolant for generating extremely low temperatures. Liquid helium is mainly used to cool superconducting magnets, for example in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy (NMR) and various research applications, including particle acceleration machine.
