Market and Application

Welding technology covers a wide range of stages. DIN EN 4063 standard defines more than 100 different welding methods. The range of gases and applications that Messer offers you in this area is quite diverse.

The protective gas for welding is often used in the oxygen-fuel process, using the fuel gas / air mixture, or preferably the fuel gas / oxygen mixture. The protective gas for welding is also indispensable in arc welding, where the thermal energy is required for the process to come from an arc. The same applies to TIG and MIG welding, where gas mixtures are dominant in the market today. These mixtures have a wide range of possible components, including argon and CO2 as well as oxygen, helium, hydrogen, and nitrogen.

This large range of standardized gas mixtures is currently available for the aforementioned applications. Messer sells a range of protective gases for welding in a clearly structured system using standardized group names based on the materials being fabricated:

Ferroline - Protective gas for smooth and low-alloy steel

Inoxline - Protective gas for high-alloy and Ni-based alloy steel

- Protective gas for aluminum and non-ferrous metals

As an industrial gas producer, we deal not only with processes involving industrial gas use, but also processes that compete with this. Consultancy service Messer on welding protective gas will be ready to show you which protective gas is right for your application: in a personal consultation and through on-site demonstrations.

These processes can be divided into the following production processes: Cut / Append / Overlay

The most important secondary metallurgical methods for quality and stainless steel production are the RH process (Ruhrstahl Heraeus), DH process (Dortmund Hörde), process VD (Vacuum degassing), VOD process ( Vacuum-oxygen-deodorization) and AOD (Argon-Oxygen Decarburization) process.

  • Improved steel quality
  • New steel production has good features
  • More precise adjustment of steel chemical properties

The addition of:

  • Argon or argon-oxygen through floor purification

In addition to the gases required for your process, Messer offers a wide range of equipment for optimization with Oxipyr and Oxijet.

Complete solutions for floor cleaning are provided in cooperation with our partners. In order to choose the optimal system, Messer experts first performed a comprehensive process analysis. After basic calculations and techniques, proposals are given for optimization and other procedures.
